First Annual Auburn Hills (Detroit, Michigan) Barbecue Cook-Off, June 26-27, 2009

Posted on May 16, 2009 by brelleva

The first-ever Auburn Hills Barbecue Cook-Off -- part of the city's Summerfest celebration -- is looking for competitors who know how to 'cue up great ribs, brisket, chicken and more.

The June 26-27 contest is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) and recognized as a "state championship" contest, meaning the winner can be considered for participation in the two top barbecue invitationals, the American Royal in Kansas City, Mo., and Jack Daniel's World Championship in Lynchburg, Tenn.

Officials expect top teams from Michigan, the Midwest and Canada to compete for the Grand Champion title, says spokesman Shawn Keenan. See www.auburnhills.org for details.
